The End, kind of....

Yeah I'm stopping 72ways. Its been fun, a cool learning experience in terms of dipping my toes into this online world of music fandom. I learnt some stuff, mostly in that my strengths don't really lie in long form music writing. As such I think its best that I try my hand at tumblr instead. Its pretty much what I was doing anyway; some content I thought was cool and a few words here or there. Might be a better fit. But I wanna keep going and engaging with the world of modern music and criticism.

So yeah, if you dug 72 ways, please join me over at my new one danceyourselfclean. The dancing and lack of proper spacing remains, the change is because 72 was originally gonna be a new djing name for me before I decided to stick with Sleepyhead and well, I fucking love LCD Soundsystem. So yeah, hopefully I wont fall down the hipster rabbit hole too far and come up with some cool stuff. Thanks for reading!

Flight Facilities - Crave You

This is no doubt one of the songs of the year and finally it has a cool video to go with it. Its a song that really makes you long for summer days again and the video is just as refreshing as the track. Also being posted today is my favorite remix of the track, namely the Bxentric one, which keeps the vibe of the track while adding a few handy bongos which play up the summery vibe and make it DJ appropriate. Flight Facilities themselevs seem to be on a bit of a roll of late, putting out numerous quality remixes and I can't wait to see what original they'll come up with next.

In other news, by tommorow, I should have enough money for my new turntables. Since my current numark ones seem to have finally kicked the bucket, I figured now was a good a time as any to upgrade from my entry level ones to some Technics (probably a pair of 1210 MK5's). Finally I'll be able to start making more mixes to put up here and hopefully get myself some more gigs.* However I will be very very very poor.

Also for the record, despite my previous mix going up under the name 72, I've revived my old name Sleepyhead for that style of disco and hip hop. I think I'll keep 72 for more uptempo bassy music though. Anyways, enough about me, stay tuned for more blogging goodness in the days to come.

Cali Dreamin' - 72

So I finally got off my ass and made a mix. Its nothing real special, but i needed to actually record something sooner or later. Anyways its reflective of one direction that I want to go in with my DJing, a sort of summery, disco and hip hop vibe and i hope that shows through here. Its very slowly becoming warm up here in Vancouver and hopefully that trend continues as i go further south on my travels. But yeah, enjoy the mix, I appreciate any and all feedback.
