Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs

Wow, a non-hip hop related post! Well, they deserve it; because Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs really are one of the most exciting electronic acts around these days. One of the few acts that can still bring the energy and excitement of electro a few years back, and isn’t a pile of noisy shit.

Affiliated with Greco-Roman records, they mirror their kinda-label bosses Hot Chips ability to mix genuine emotion with stupidly fun dance music. The video above showcases their softer side with the track Garden, which as the FADER rightly suggests, contains more than an element of the XX. Below however is a short live set they did, which shows off their truly bizarre inclinations while still allowing the pop and dance to shine through.

Unlike Hot Chip though, these guys aren’t afraid to let their songs be full on dance tracks with many such as Bournemouth and Blood Pressure featuring full on wobbly basslines and with pop melodies that range from the sappiness of Passion Pit to the childlike enthusiasm of Animal Collective. Few acts are fresher and more exciting than these guys.
